What Does an Answering Service Cost in Sweden? Most Won't Say.
We looked up pricing at ten Swedish answering services, on their own websites. Seven of the ten show no figure at all. Here is what the three that do actually charge, and why the pricing model matters more than any single average would.
Sweden has three overlapping words for the same service: svarstjänst, telefonpassning, svarsservice. All three mean a person answering your phone in your company's name. Search for pricing on any of them and here is what you get: a contact form. Fill it in, guess how many calls you get a day, wait for someone to call you back. No number until somebody has asked about your business first.
We wanted to know if that holds up, so we checked ten Swedish providers that rank for those searches: iTell, Ringup, besvarat.se, Comunit, Responda Group, WeCall, Bigacom, Nordicom, DiaTel, and AnswerOnline. We visited their own sites, not directories or comparison pages. Seven of the ten have no public pricing anywhere. Three show a number, and those three numbers say more about how this market actually charges than a single average figure would have.
Why almost nobody publishes a price
It is not strange that most providers stay quiet. An answering service costs whatever it costs to keep a person available for your calls specifically, and that cost depends on how many calls you actually get, what hours you want covered, and how much each call demands. A company with twenty calls a day during office hours is a different job from one with two hundred calls spread across the clock.
A flat price set in advance, without knowing any of that, ends up either too high for the small customer or too low for the large one. So the provider asks first, which is a reasonable way to price a job where the cost is a person's working time.
The three that actually show a number
Comunit states on its own homepage that phone answering starts at 11 kronor per call. DiaTel charges 12.95 kronor per call during its trial period, which runs for up to three months and only bills for calls actually received. The two land close to each other, and that is the one estimate in this piece we are comfortable calling representative: it rests on two independent sources saying nearly the same thing, not on an assumption.
Responda Group goes further and publishes a full set of four package tiers:
- 1,950 kronor a month, 50 calls included
- 2,850 kronor a month, 100 calls included
- 4,550 kronor a month, 200 calls included (the tier Responda itself flags as most chosen)
- 7,050 kronor a month, 350 calls included
A call counts as 60 seconds. Go over the included volume and each extra call costs 19 kronor, on every tier. Fill exactly the smallest tier and the average works out to 39 kronor a call. Fill the largest and it drops to just over 20 kronor. The package model rewards volume in a way flat per-call billing does not.
The other seven, iTell, Ringup, besvarat.se, WeCall, Bigacom, Nordicom, and AnswerOnline, show none of this on their own pages. Just a phone number or a form, and the promise of a quote.
The four ways this market charges
Nearly the entire Swedish answering-service market fits into four structures.
Per call, like Comunit and DiaTel above. Easy to understand, but your most expensive invoice arrives in the exact month business was busiest.
Per minute, common among switchboard and business-telephony providers who sell answering as an add-on to a phone system. None of the ten we checked publishes a per-minute rate anywhere public, so we are not printing one. If a provider quotes you one, run the math on a long call and a short one before comparing it to anything else.
A package with a set number of calls included, then a per-call rate above that, the way Responda Group does it. This works best when your volume is fairly predictable and you can pick the right tier.
And a quote, which for the other seven of the ten just means the answer is one of the three structures above, stated only after a call about your business.
What actually drives the bill
Three things decide what you will pay, whichever of the providers above you choose. How many calls come in. Which hours you need covered, since around the clock costs more to staff than office hours until five. And how much each call demands: taking a message and passing it on is cheaper to staff than booking an appointment, answering product questions, or working through an unhappy caller.
So "what does an answering service cost" has no answer until you know the answers to those three questions yourself. That is also why none of the seven quote-only providers will name a figure in advance. They do not know it yet either.
The structural choice: variable or flat
There is a fifth way to structure a price, and it is not a variant of the four above. A flat monthly fee regardless of volume, up to a limit. That is the structure behind VOCA, for a reason worth stating plainly: an AI agent costs roughly the same whether it answers call number one or call number one hundred. The variable cost is not a person's working hours, so there is nothing to meter per call the way a staffed answering service has to.
Chatt costs 249 kronor a month and Komplett 999 kronor, both excluding VAT, regardless of how many calls, chats, or emails come in, up to the plan's volume. Go over the 150 calls included in Komplett and it tops up in batches of 15 calls for 99 kronor, not per call and not per minute. A two-minute call costs exactly the same as one lasting thirty seconds.
That is the part of the comparison that is actually structural, not just a different number on the same kind of invoice. A person on the other end of the line draws a wage tied to the time she spends. An AI agent does not, and the pricing on both sides of this comparison, the staffed services above and ours, follows that difference exactly.
What is worth asking before you sign
Always ask for a figure tied to a real month, not a starting price. What does three hundred calls cost you? Six hundred? What happens if you go over, and what does it cost per call or per minute at that point? Is there a setup fee or a minimum contract term, since none of the providers above mention either on their own pages, which either means there is none, or it arrives bundled into the quote.
If you cannot get a number to plan a budget around before you sign anything, that is already an answer, just not the one you asked for.
The prices above were pulled directly from each provider's own website on August 22, 2026: Comunit, DiaTel, and Responda Group. iTell, Ringup, besvarat.se, WeCall, Bigacom, Nordicom, and AnswerOnline published no pricing on their sites at the same time. That is not a gap in our research. It is what their own pages actually show right now.
